You can track the Rows, No. of Vines and Area harvested via the VINx2 Fruit Intake Console. This also allows you to track fruit costs based on Area by establishing a Grower contract with a rate type of $ per area instead of $ per ton.
By default the Area option is enabled on both the Booking and Intake delivery windows. If you’d like to enable Row and No. Of Vines support please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Looking at a Block first of all under Winery Setup -> Production -> Fruit sources you can see that you can set the Area (in your chosen unit) and also the Planting density per unit (effectively the No. of Vines per area unit). It’s important to have these fields set if you wish to capture the No. of Vines. These values will be used to help calculate the Area harvested for you based on a simple calculation using the No. of Vines and Planting density.
Area based fruit costing
Next, if you wish to track Fruit based costing based on Area please configure your Grower contracts under Winery Setup -> Production -> Grower contract. If you don’t see this option please contact us at email@example.com to enable for you.
You will notice here you can set a Default price as either $ per area or $ per ton. The Grower contract allows you to configure a contract per harvest year to automatically set fruit costs as the fruit is entered into your VINx2 system. You can link each contract to a particular block or have it as broad as a particular grower and variety. For example, a contract linked to Grower Smith and Syrah would use the Default price for all Syrah from Grower Smith weighed at the scales.
Capturing the estimated Area to Harvest
On a Booking of fruit you can capture Row, No. of Vine and Area estimates which will appear on the Booking docket.
These fields will appear on your Booking docket
You can also configure your Fruit intake console to show Rows, No. of Vines and Area estimate. Use the (Config) link and this will update the table based schedule view.
Capturing the Area Harvested upon fruit intake
When the fruit arrives and you record a new delivery you will have the option to enter the Actual Rows, No. of Vines and Area. If you are tracking No. of Vines alone and have the Planting density and Area configured against your block, please only enter the No. Of Vines. The Area will be calculated automatically for you via this equation:
Assuming a Planting density of 100 (W) vines per acre and we receive 20 (Z) vines and 5 (Y) tonnes we know that we have 0.2 acres harvested (Z / W = X) which then allows us to calculate Yield per acre as Y (5) / X (0.2) which equals 25 tonnes per acre to arrive at the yield value.
Of course, if you know the Area harvested and that is sufficient you can enter that.
Keep in mind, No. of Vines will only show if enabled.
The Grape Delivery report and the Fruit Placement report under Winery Reports -> Vintage/Harvest have now been expanded to include the Area information. Be sure to run the Grape delivery report in CSV Format to extract this information.
Also the CSV option from the Fruit intake console will give you some vital information showing expected versus actual Area’s and Vine’s harvested.
